Selling Your Home? PACK IT UP!
Less is best when selling your home. Are you planning on moving? Start packing! I have suggested that people start packing everything that they can get by without. Place the boxes neatly in your garage, basement, or rent a storage building. Some have even used the POD Storage Units.
Look at each room from a buyers point of view. Does the room look small? Maybe you have too much furniture in that room. Does your room look too small because there is too much "stuff"? Do you have beautiful collections? I have shown homes to potential buyers. I asked them "how do you like this home"? They can't remember what the home looked like because they were looking at the pictures or collection of items the home owner displayed.
Is the home "clean"? Are the beds made and the sink empty? Remove all shampoo, soap, bath clothes and towels from the bathtub. Do not leave undergarments out for all to see.
Last year I met a family who had their home on the market (with another agent) for over a year without a buyer. They were discouraged. When I went into their home, I found that it was clean. They just collected everything from teddy bears to baseball caps. They had a lot of furniture is a small home. The last agent told them that it was alright to have a "lived in looking" home. I told them to pack it away. They started packing. The house seemed to add square feet. We were happy that it sold in 6 weeks!
